Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Analyst supports the overall structure and day-to-day operations of the Mary Washington Hospital (MWH) 340B Program. The Analyst will assist with clarifying metrics that can be used to maintain program compliance and make enhancement decisions associated with the 340B Program. The primary focus of the Analyst will be day-to-day audit and maintenance of the 340B Program at each 340B eligible site. This will involve management of split billing system, third-party administrative (TPA) software(s), maintaining policies and procedures, conducting audits on prescriptions for compliance and enhancement, confirming inventory is represented appropriately within software(s), and maintaining all lists associated with 340B Program participation and maintenance. The Analyst will interface directly with the pharmacy teams at each MWH location as needed to assist with maintenance activities and ensure that systems and processes are functioning in a compliant manner. The Analyst will also assist with 340B Program financial and benefit tracking to include reconciliation of all contract pharmacy invoices and reporting on monthly metrics associated with Program performance.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Pharmacy Buyer in ordering medications. Monitors and interprets utilization records and 340B purchasing accounts to ensure software and tools are working properly and accurately.
  • Aggregates and analyzes 340B cost savings report detailing purchasing, and replacement practices, as well as dispensing patterns.
  • Performs scheduled audits of drugs ordered and dispensed, comparing and reconciling reports from contract pharmacies and drug wholesalers regarding splitter software and contract pharmacy.
  • Performs regularly scheduled sample audits of 340B pharmacy program.
  • Assists with maintenance and testing of tracking software.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to improve or enhance 340B service offerings.
  • Collaborates with information technology and decision support resources in assisting sites, departments, service lines, and individuals in the identification of information/data needs to support 340B activities.
  • Develops recommendations for improvements to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Assists with OPAIS database accuracy for eligible sites and accurate database records across the Mary Washington Hospital covered entities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of three years pharmacy operations experience.
  • Associates degree and two (2) years of work experience with focus in accounting, finance, information technology, business or a related field required or bachelor's degree with focus in accounting, finance, information technology, business, or related field. Would accept equivalent combination of education/work experience.
  • Experience with pharmacy systems and in-depth knowledge of analytics requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Project) and Internet navigation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of 340(b) drug pricing program
  • CPhT or other professional certification
