The successful candidate will lead a well-established multidisciplinary team of Sports Medicine providers, Athletic Training and Team Physician Services, Concussion Care, Ultrasound-guided Injections, and Sports wellness. Athletes know that teamwork is an important element of success - and teamwork is what sets Akron Childrens apart from other sports medicine providers.
The Sports Health Service Line is a primary clinical unit in the Department of Orthopedics. Our sports medicine team diagnoses and treats sports and activity-related injuries. We work closely with Akron Childrens orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists who specialize in sports rehabilitation. Every athlete receives a customized treatment plan and guidance on how to prevent future injuries. We offer sports psychology to help athletes with sports performance and recovery from injury, along with a sports nutritionist to teach athletes how to fuel their bodies. Our goal is to help young athletes return to the activities they love as quickly and safely as possible.
Akron Childrens Division of Sports Medicine has a one-year ACGME accredited fellowship program which is nationally recognized for commitment to excellence in all areas. Our program was the first of its kind at a children's hospital and exposes you to a range of diagnostic and treatment options, including digital radiology, motion analysis videography, sports physical therapy and pediatric orthopedics. Akron Childrens is the official sports health services provider for Akron Zips Athletics. The same Sports Health team caring for Division I Akron Zips student-athletes treats any athlete ages 12 and up. We also provide convenient, on-campus orthopedic and sports injury care for all University of Akron students, faculty, and staff.
